Education & Outreach Media Specialist, July 2001 – July 2004  
  Support all aspects of sanctuary education and outreach needs. Plan, organize, and coordinate, including acting as main lecturer, for all aspects of annual K-12 educator workshops. Secured Texas State Board of Education Certification for annual education workshops. Develop and present lectures for use at a variety of educational levels and subjects. Editing and layout of quarterly sanctuary newsletter, one-pagers, technical reports. Work with various aquaria and organizations as liaison for sanctuary. Represent sanctuary at conferences, conventions and meetings of education and dive groups. Participated as part of NOAA dive team and scientific team for annual monitoring cruises and annual agency-industry partnership cruise to sanctuary. Shipboard educator for 2003 NOAA Oceanic Exploration research cruise to northwestern Gulf of Mexico deep reefs.

  Ecological monitoring of east Stetson Bank. Analysis of digitized photographs collected at permanent stations between 1993 and 2000. Identified corals, sponges and algae to lowest possible taxonomic level using visible morphological characteristics.
